DISC Personality Test : be a Cut Above the Rest by Discovering yourself

DISC Personality Test : be a Cut Above the Rest by Discovering yourself

DISC is a widely accepted personality test that assists people in discovering and understanding themselves. It has played an instrumental part in the business sector as it enables effective recruitment, communication, team building, and leadership development.

What is DISC Personality Test?

Developed by William Moulton Marston, DISC is an assessment tool that helps in understanding the distinct personality types. Though most people consider it to be a test, it is more of a personality profile. The reason we don’t like calling DISC a test is because there is no right or wrong. DISC evaluates your personality and does not judge your skills, knowledge, or intelligence.

William Moulton Marston used two axes to analyze any person’s behavioral style: the suitability of the environment and their control on it. Based on these two factors, an individual develops several personality traits. The interesting thing about Marston’s model is that it allows you to predict the behaviour of your colleagues and managers. This is one of the benefits of DISC.

Why is DISC Personality Test Important?

Regardless of your role or responsibility in your organization, understanding the DISC profiles of people always gives you an edge. Once you’ve learned about yourself, the chances to thrive in your career are higher as you know which job is for you and which is not. Some major benefits of the DISC personality test are:

Effective Team Building : DISC assessment helps create effective teams that can learn about one another’s perspective and take actions accordingly. The approach of using DISC profiles for team building helps to avoid personality clashes in the workplace. DISC has also helped businesses to recruit new, like-minded staff. We believe that a working team having diverse personality types is more efficient, adaptable, and productive.

What is the DISC assessment used for?

By applying the DISC personality test, you can smoothen the working relations and reduce communication gaps. It helps to understand one another viewpoint and prevent disputes.

Profiles of the DISC Personality Test

DISC model assesses the personality of a person by considering the four fundamental personality traits; dominance, influence, steadiness, and compliance.

Based on these personal traits, DISC consultants can create several DISC personality profiles. There are more than four personality types because a person can and likely have more than one of the above-behavioural styles. So, all these personal attributes combine to form an individual’s DISC profile. DISC doesn’t define a person’s abilities but their behavior.

Improved Communication and Personnel Relations

You can use the profile of a person to assess their interpersonal skills. By analyzing the personality types of team members, one can foresee their synergy and communication gaps. Thus, the DISC test can help in creating smooth working relations.

Increased Productivity and Better Project Results

By making compatible people work alongside each other, you can make your organization more productive. The harmony among the team members also helps to drive better project results. A team having strong bonds and coordination is sure to outperform a group of ill-matched workers.

Enhances Leadership Skills

By understanding yours and your team members’ DISC personality reports, you can prove to be a more efficient leader. Once you know the primary motivations and fears of your colleagues, you can keep them motivated by applying the right motivation tools. Understanding their personality types can come in handy at the time of dispute among employees. Overall, the DISC assessment can help the person at the helm.

What are the 4 DiSC personality types?

D-Style Profile (Dominant):

As the name suggests, D-style personalities are more assertive, daring, and risk takers. They are always willing to take charge and make quick decisions. People with D-type profiles are result-oriented and are looking to push the limits. Their primary focus is on the bottom line.

I-Style Profile (Influence):

I-styles have friendly and optimistic souls. People with this personality type are cheerful, so having them in your team creates a convivial atmosphere. They prefer a people-centered approach when making decisions. Having strong communication and persuasion skills, they build acceptance of their ideas by their influence.

S-Style Profile (Steadiness):

S-type personality likes stability, structure, and systems. These people don’t decide in a rush and operate at a steady pace. They are patient, accommodating, and don’t like to put things at stake. You may find them generous, supportive, and sincere. S-type personalities are “slow and steady wins the race” kind of people. They fear the change and dislike working in a new system or environment.

C-Style Profile (Compliance):

C-style personalities, having an analytical and logical mind, believe in facts, figures, and details. They are systematic, meticulous, and cautious. Being a perfectionist, C-Style has high standards and expects others to comply with them. They value rules and are, thus, compliant and obedient.

Debriefing by DISC Consultants

You find will dozens of free DISC assessment websites online, but they all are algorithm-based multiple-choice questions. All these online DISC tests will be simply asking you if you’re dominant, gregarious, or analytical.

On the other hand, we arrange debriefing sessions with DISC consultants. We create your DISC personality report by asking you scenario-based questions through cards.

Comprehensive Training of the DISC Model

Rather than giving you abbreviations such as D, I, S or C, we educate your employees about the DISC model. This in-depth training helps the workers to understand their personality reports and those of their colleagues.  All this knowledge will be beneficial in team building, career growth, leadership development, and communicating with people of different behaviors.

It usually takes around 15-30 minutes for conducting a DISC personality test. A common alternative to DISC personality assessment is Myers-Briggs Type Indicator, but DISC is the best tool for public settings like the workplace.

Marc Prager Conseil can help you enhance your team’s harmony, efficiency, and adaptability by conducting the DISC personality assessment of your employees.
