What is MBTI?

MBTI stands for Myers-Briggs Type Indicator. It's a self-assessment tool that sorts personality into 16 distinct types. Each type is unique, with its own strengths and weaknesses. How people perform, at work and in life, largely reflects their individual traits. MBTI assessment helps people find the right career direction and make better decisions for their life.

What is the Rarest MBTI Personality?

Among the 16 MBTI types, INFJ is the rarest, making up only about 1.8% of the world's population. Standing for Introverted, Intuition, Feeling, and Judging, INFJs are reserved individuals with a strong sense of intuition. They tend to decide based on feeling rather than logic and plan well ahead to head off future problems. They're also known for their genuine empathy toward others.

Pros and Cons of Rare Personality Type

Personality tests like the MBTI help people gauge their abilities and put them to smart use, both personally and professionally. Having a rare personality can be a blessing and a curse. As a rare type, your strengths and unique skills are valued by your organisation and the people around you. But because others haven't encountered your type before, they sometimes struggle to see your point of view or respect the differences between you.

The Rarest Personality Type for Men

As with the general population, INFJ is also the rarest type among men — roughly 1% of men fall into the overall 1.8% of the population that is INFJ. INFJ men tend to be quiet and keep things private, more attuned to how others feel than to their own emotions. They plan carefully and structure their execution to hit goals on time. Since these traits aren't typically associated with men in our society, the INFJ type stands out even more among them.

The Rarest Personality Type for Women

Surprisingly, the rarest types among women are INTJ and ENTJ, not INFJ. Roughly 1% of women fall into each of these categories. These women are analytical rather than emotionally driven, intuitive, and among the best planners. Since these traits aren't common among women generally, the types are considered the rarest for women.
